She was like many others. It was all too much for her. She couldn’t take any more pain and sorrow. So she did what many others before her did; she ended her life. She tied a rope to the ceiling, made a noose of the rope around her neck, and knocked away the chair she stood on. Death came within minutes. Her soul fell away from her body and landed on the ground. The girl didn’t expect this. She gazed at her lifeless body swinging rhythmically back and forth. Suddenly, she noticed a light at the corner of her eyes. She turns to face another being. The girl gasped as she stared in awe at the being. He was the clothed in a pure white robe and had a beautiful, timeless face.
The being spoke to the girl in a smooth, melodious voice, “You’re pain has ended, my dear. Take my hand and I will bring you to a better place.” The girl stared at the outstretched hand of the handsome person who stood before her, but only for a moment, as she felt compelled to take the hand. As soon as she grasped his hand the being tightened his grip. His face contorted and twisted as it changed to a ghastly sight. His face was now ghastly white and sunken in with bloodshot eyes that seemed to be popping out of their sockets. His mouth was a sickening sneer baring shark-like teeth blindingly white. The girl let out a scream as she tried to wrestle her arm away from the beast. The beast merely pressed his talons into her arm. Tears streamed down the girls face as she felt a pain that hurt more than anything she ever felt before, but there was no blood. She closed her eyes.
As quick as a flash, the grip was released. The girl fell backwards and opened her eyes in shock. There standing before her was a person dressed completely in black standing between her and the bone-white monster. The person had a hoodie, tennis shoes, and jeans, but what amazed the girl were the giant raven wings that stretched out from the person’s back. The person pulled out a scythe from thin air and then charged the beast. The two clashed, black versus white, talon versus blade, back and forth they fought. The girl could only watch in awe. Finally, the hooded figure knocked the beast to the ground. As the figure raised the black scythe for the finishing blow, the beast screeched at him, “Curse you, death angel! My lord will defeat you as you have defeated me!” Then, the blade fell.
The death angel made its way back towards the girl, lightly holding the scythe in its hand. The girl managed to get over her shock at what has just happened and managed to say, “You-you saved my life.” The angel stopped in front of her and then pulled of his hood. He looked at her with sapphire blue eyes and answered in a voice that wanted nothing of her, “No. I did not save your life. You already threw that away. I merely saved your soul.” The angel then cast away his scythe back to wherever he drew it from and sat down beside her, looking at her still swinging corpse.
“Why did you do it?” he asked, “Why would you kill yourself?”
“I-I had no choice. The world is too cruel, too mean to continue living in.”
“And you believed that the afterlife would be any different?!”
The girl turned to look at the angel. She noticed the angel had black hair to match the clothes he wore and that he was quite handsome, for an angel. “Of course I did! That thing you killed even said it was!”
